Traffic Bangalore Infrastructure CTTP BMLTA Analysis amenities public transport

Karnataka Government has begun work on the CTTP by starting consultations with the Union Urban Development Ministry (UUD) on implementing the plan. State additional chief secretary Niraja Rajkumar, submitted the plan and made a detailed presentation to Union Urban Development Secretary M Ramachandran on Jan 15, 2008. The plan incldes various projects to be implemented in three phases - 2007-12, 2013-18 and 2019-24 at a total cost of 46,994 crore rupees.

According to UUD secretary M. Ramachandran the centre would not be able to promise the funds to the state, but it would help KA government to get finance from various sources and international agencies. He also suggested KA to consider taking up projects under the plan on public-private partnership (PPP) basis.

Bangalore is the first city in the country to come out with a CTTP as mandated by the JNNURM.

Hi TS & Others ! Went thro´ most of the recent blogs on praja - all very interesting ! I have posted a few comments here & there. Nice to hear that the State Govt is already pushing it´s case & knocking on the central govt´s doors to explore funding options. At least, it´s a start, though how things turn out in the future remain to be seen.

welcome back naveen. hmm.. sure some things are moving, but a lot of others remain the same and we keep hearing the same things again and again and again. everybody seems to know what the problems with BMTC is, what the problems with pub trans is etc etc.. yet things dont ever seem to move beyond saying -'this, this and this is the problem'.

BMLTA approves CTTP

Rs 46,994-cr plan for B'lore traffic DH News Service The Bangalore Metropolitan Land Transport Authority (BMLTA), constituted by the State government under the framework of National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP), has accorded approval to the Comprehensive Traffic and Transportation Plan (CTTP) for the City. Gaurab Gupta, Commissioner for Urban Land Transport, said the CTTP envisages an investment of Rs 46,994 crore for Bangalore over a period of 18 years. “The BMLTA has also unanimously approved a tie-up with Bangalore City Connect, a non-profit trust, to have a public-private-partnership in respect of certain projects. The tie-up, ‘Bangalore Traffic and Transport Initiative’, will see City Connect provide at its cost, 200 traffic wardens to be trained and deployed by the traffic police on the road to the new airport at Devanahalli,” Mr Gupta added. The BMLTA will meet once in two months to deliberate on proposals from civic agencies for integrated solutions to transportation issues in the City.
