Bangalore urban development Citizen Reports Domlur CPWD Multistory Government Building

The Indian Central Public works Department CPWD [1]; Ministry of Urban Development at New Delhi is currently headed by its Director General Mr. VK Gupta. Here is the WIKI map location of The CPWD office in Koramangala [2]. I came across from Google search this interesting CPWD project outside the country:-

I believe CPWD has been constructing several Monumental Buildings in and outside India. One such building is at Afghanistan, the “Afghan Parliament building”[3]. It is expected to be completed by December 2013, Mr. Rakesh Mishra is a Special Director General in charge of this building work.

The Design of this building is based on the “religious philosophy” of the Afghan people. It has four sections

1.     Lower house

2.     Upper house

3.     Administrative section and

4.     Entrance block.

Samangam stone, a kind of marble found locally has been used for external finishing of the building. The cost of the building is likely to be around Rs 70 million.

A brand new project of CPWD is being witnessed at Domlur fly over [4]

This project is having 2 Floors below and 12 floors above the ground level. A total of 14 floor area will be available. This will ofcource add to the traffic Chaos in and around the fly over near by.

Many Biharis are working here. I met one hindi speaking boy Ramesh Yadav. I could get some basic information from this boy about the number of floors.

I was just interested in the civil engineering feat involved in digging such a huge plot in a busy area with safety concerns. Thought I could capture some of the Civil engineering aspects by the pictures I took.

I was also curious to know the purpose of this building.

While at it I was impressed by the out of the country work taken up by CPWD as documented on their site, which I thought, was worth sharing.
