Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways-visit to Blore
ram14025 - 14 November, 2013 - 11:20
I have been invited by the South Western Railway authorities to participate in the infomal discussions with the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways headed by Shri TR Balu, Hon'ble MP to be held at Taj Vivanta, Yeshwanthapura on 15th Nov 2013. Apart from me, as Secretary of the Travellers' Association (Regd-Kolar), Bangarapet, I will be accompanied by our President Shri AK Sitaram and one more representative. As you know, I am also the member in the Divisional Rail Users Consultative Committee, Bangalore Division, SW Railway.
Apart from the subject matter of ‘Suburban Train Services of Indian Railways, with particular emphasis on security of women passengers’, time permitting, I will try to get permission from the Chair to include a few more subjects pertaining to Bangalore Division including commuter rail services from Bangalore to various nearby townships like Bangarapet, Tumkur, Ramanagaram, etc.
Let us hope to have a fruitful meeting with the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways on 15th Nov 2013.

Inefficient Services of SWR on Bangalore - Mysore route
Vasanth - 15 November, 2013 - 02:15
Can this be conveyed along with other issues.
Services between Bangalore and Mysore has become very inefficient despite of having double track of nearly 80 kms out of 140 kms.(Bangalore - Settihalli, Maddur-Mandya and Mysore-Naganahalli)
Earlier, when the track was single, many express trains such as Tuticorn express was covering the distance in just 2hrs 30 mins and maximum 2hrs 45 mins.
Non-stop like tippu express was consistently covering in 2hrs 15 minutes. Passenger trains like Push Pull was covering the distance in 3hrs 15 mins.
Now, most of the express trains take 3+ hrs and officially they declare some non-stop trains slower than passenger trains. Volume of trains has become too much but without any effeciency. A non-stop train like Mayiladuturai Express is left behind an express train GolGumbuz Express leaving Mysore at 3:45 and reaching Bangalore at 7:15 PM.
Same happens to Ajmer Express on Tuesdays and Thursdays which is left behind Tuticorn Express leaving Mysore at 6PM and reaching Bangalore at 9:30PM. Pushpull Passenger leaves Mysore at 5:50 and reaches Bangalore at 9 am, must faster than a non-stop train like Ajmer Express.
Ideally a non-stop superfast train like Tippu should cover the distance in 2hrs and was done earlier, express 2hrs 30 minutes and a Passenger Train, 3hrs 15 minutes.
