A few folks at Praja are trying to create some handy, cool and easy to understand maps for buses. In the initial phases their focus has been on the volvo routes.
Attached is the completed vajra map. The plan is that there will be one more map/side which will accompany this map, which shows each route individiually in a straight line - showing ALL the stops. Now to create this map, we need to collect data regarding the list of all the stops the bus stops at. This complete info is not mentioned on the BMTC site.
Can we do this true Praja style? Below is the first list of bus routes. We will make 2 more posts to cover all the vajra routes. We need to make sure that all the bus stops covered by the route are covered in "via places".
How to fill the table?
If you have bus stops to add, make sure you do that in the correct order. Suppose I have to add murugeshpallya to route number 335E. Since it comes between Manipal Hospital and AECS Layout. I will add it in between the two. Then I will add my praja-id under the "revised by" column. Since the bus route is not complete yet the answer to the last column is No. If you think the route is complete change that to yes so that we can get working on that.

Apologies for the delay in response. Here are my thoughts on all the queries, discussions.
I would agree that there is a need a need for this or something better on these lines. I guess you posted this to help keep the pdf map updated.
I would rather propose that we build a few PT apps
1. Crowdsource BusStop Location and Bus Routes (for Vajra and the rest!!) on Google Maps.
2. A small app to show a set of routes on Google maps (routes available from crowdsourecd data)
3. A route search application - with route frequency etc crowdsourced.
Its elaborate work. Once we finalise the functioanlities and have a framework, we should have these in a couple of months. Whatsay?
It better to do this on a new google app called google transit rather than doing it directly on google transit. And Praja helping BMTC do that is also in the pipeline. Jenny is in talks with Mithila and PK Garg. Will post updates as soon as I have them. With all the techies that are there on Praja this is not a tough job at all. What is complicated is setting up a process within BMTC so that once we do it the app stays up to date.
Btw, curious to know who created this visualistion. This is different from the one done when Bus day was being initiated.

Shehkhar, You may want to check the Bus Day Project Pages (http://praja.in/en/busday). Check out the files which have the Bus List, frequency. All it might need is to add the new services that were introduced after the BD. This list has been verified by many including BMTC.
You may also check with BMTC contacts for the efforts that might have been initiated by others. Check with SB also?
We already reached out to BMTC folks on this. They directed us to bmtctravelinfo. The info I have posted in the wiki is from there. What we need is comprehensive list of bus stops, not just major stops. Dont know whether BMTC has that info handy.
It was my privilage to join praja team to meet BMTC official few months back. There we had thought about idea of integrating with Google Transit. Currently I am studying the link provided by Google. I think this right time to some one interested to go through same, so that we can build database which is compatible with Google and we can use it for some other areas too.
@Srivatsa, can we discuss on this?
I have done a feasibility study of this. Looks very easy to do only if we get support from BMTC. How about we discuss this? We "may" have some small funding to get this done as well. But too soon for that.
Map is good! but we ca make it better by introducing even the marcopolo or the AC suvarna routes into them which also cater to the IT secotr and the non-residential areas-there are many of such marcopolos runnign in the city too. We should also include the vayu vajras as now people are allowed to travel by them and they also get full in the peak hours and people wait to board them at the stops
I still have not put up all the bus routes on this wiki. It was getting too huge to handle. Will make an additional wiki for rest of the routes.
