We are organizing an event with CiSTUP, IISc, to discuss hurdles and next steps on Commuter Rail Service (CRS, aka Namma Railu). Entry is only by invitation, respond ASAP if you want to attend.
"Namma Railu 2010" is a Mobilicity event. Attendance only by Invitation, a moderated round table focused on exploring a Commuter Rail Service (CRS) for Bengaluru using existing broad gauge tracks in the city.

Specifics
- Date: Aug 30, 2010., Time: 9:30am - 1.30pm
- Venue: CiSTUP, IISc, Bangalore
- Entry only by Inivitation. Limited number of open seats (~ 20). Email nammarailu [at] praja.in ASAP if you want to come, we will respond with an invitation. (We are not discussing pros and cons of Commuter Rail. Attend only if you believe in the concept.)
Format
Please note that attendance is only by invitation. We are planning to get about 15 panelists and 20 enthusiast citizens. Lunch will be served at the end of the round table session.
The discussion will be held in three sessions, each expected to run for 30 minutes.

Sub Topic #1 - Commuter Rail to enable mobility for growth of BMR Area
- Detailing Commuter Rail Service (CRS) as the option to support Cluster based growth of BMRDA area and periphery.

Sub Topic #2 - CRS will strengthen existing investments in Mobility
- Would CRS drive more volumes to other modes of mobility? Touch upon Multi-Model connects for CRS in the city?

Sub Topic #3 Enabling Namma Railu : Hurdles
- Recognizing existing hurdles. What do we need to take things forward - Nodal Agency, SPV, PPP, similar?

About Mobilicity
Mobilicity is a series of grounds up and citizen driven events that focus on constructive discussions or proposals on matters pertaining to sustainable transportation in Bengaluru. Each Mobilicity event is a citizen organized engagement with local government bodies in the space of public mobility.
About CiSTUP
Centre for infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation and Urban Planning (CiSTUP) is a joint initiative of Government of Karnataka and India Institute of Science (IISc) to develop a center for unique expertise in the areas of infrastructure, sustainable transportation and urban planning. CiSTUP engages in several activities such as basic and applied research and development, academic activities, training programmes, workshops and consultancy projects in the areas of infrastructure, sustainable transportation and urban planning.

Need to organize the Namma Railu project page better first, let us add a block with details of this event on the mobilicity sub-site as well as Namma Railu project page.
We have created several google docs/sheets and added the project folks, and more who are expected to help organize. Any one willing to help organize this, do leave a comment here so that we can share invite templates, task list etc separately with you.
