Old pedestrian subways neglected by BBMP? Richa.Dhodi - 28-FEB-2009
With the coming up of new subways in Bangalore city ,the maintance on old subways are not been neglected? Who will look at the condition of the present subways like the ones at KR Market and Majestic? Does BBMP doing sufficient work for the maintenance of the subways present at the KR Market and Majestic? So don't you feel that the authority is lacking its duty? |

BY Richa Dhodi BANGALORE: The newly-built subways on Nrupatunga Road, laid by the city corporation, are proving to be useful to the citizens of Bangalore. The second of the three pedestrian subways to be constructed on Nrupathunga road opposite St. Martha's hospital was laid on Sunday. Work on the third is to begin shortly. |

So said Dr. Subramanya sometime in Dec 2007. It seems that pavements are optional in Bangalore. BBMP can spend 100s of crores on tarring roads, acquiring land for useless road widening (check out the stretch just after Domlur leading to Command Hospital), building flyovers with signals on top of them, etc etc, but has little money to spend on building and maintaining pavements. |

Embassy Golf Links on Intermediate Ring Road, Koramangala is one of first IT parks in Bangalore and houses large facilities of several MNCs such as IBM, Microsoft, Netapp, Yahoo and Goldman Sachs. This campus houses thousands of employees. One huge problem that the employees face is to cross the street right outside their facility. |
