Old pedestrian subways neglected by BBMP?

Richa.Dhodi - 28-FEB-2009

With the coming up of new subways  in Bangalore city ,the maintance on old subways are not been neglected? Who will look at the condition of the present subways like the ones at KR Market and Majestic? Does BBMP doing sufficient work for the maintenance of the subways present at the KR Market and Majestic? So don't you feel that the authority is lacking its duty?

So said Dr. Subramanya sometime in Dec 2007.  It seems that pavements are optional in Bangalore.  BBMP can spend 100s of crores on tarring roads, acquiring land for useless road widening (check out the stretch just after Domlur leading to Command Hospital), building flyovers with signals on top of them, etc etc, but has little money to spend on building and maintaining pavements.

Lessons learnt - but the hard way!

Agara lake & S T bed trees 012.jpgI moved into an apartment complex in S T Bed layout, Koramangala, about 4 years back. The layout was developed by BDA over a decade back on Sinivagilu tank bed, quite as per the widely prevalent practice then. For a layout on a tank bed, the drainage work done by BDA was totally inadequate, and as a result, the asphalting on the roads progressively deteriorated, making the drive through the layout worse than a ride on a camel back.

7 of us showed up, 6 in one batch and 1 on his own (came to know later) for this event. Met Kannan for the first time and speaking to him made it clear that he has given detailed thoughts to possible solutions for this chaos. He will soon be scanning and posting his sketches here.

Pedestrian bridge across Intermediate Ring Road

deepakar - 12-FEB-2009

Embassy Golf Links on Intermediate Ring Road, Koramangala is one of first IT parks in Bangalore and houses large facilities of several MNCs such as IBM, Microsoft, Netapp, Yahoo and Goldman Sachs. This campus houses thousands of employees. One huge problem that the employees face is to cross the street right outside their facility.
