traffic signal violations- need info

saamk - 23-JUN-2010

hi...

m new here, don't know whether this is the proper section to post this,

two days back my friend was riding his 2 wheeler in jayanagar 4th block area. he crossed the signal when it was green but after a second or so it turned red.. Two traffic police were standing on the road side but he managed to speed up and run away as there were other vehicle the traffic police was attending to... the police keeps yelling and possibly note down the reg. number. Now he's worried what kind of charges he might face... he didn't stop the vehicle(after signal jump) coz  he was in a hurry moreover he doesn't have cash at that time to pay for the spot fine which the police would have demanded..

now he's worried as they note down the his number.. what kind of charges/fines he would face.

plz give some ideas or suggestions in this matter.

regards

Police Insanity

idontspam - 2-JUN-2010

Traffic inspector creates jam

On her part, Inspector Susheela seemed unperturbed by the chaos she had created. “Yes, I parked my jeep on the road as there was no space around. It was important for me to attend to the traffic jam on the adjoining road in the interest of the public. Why don’t you understand that I did not go there for my personal work,” she retorted.

Prima facie a case of insanity? These kind of people need to be removed immediately. I call on Addl.CP Traffic, Praveen Sood to suspend her immediately for deriliction of duty and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

Traffic and IMV act violations: in Bangalore GALORE!

It is routine to see red light jumping, oneway violations, parking violations, slow moving vehicles in the outer most lanes, wheeliing which recently cost lives,  cell phone driving, overloaded 2/3 wheelers especially with young innocent children whose lives are endangered. Recently I saw a horrifying one motorcycle with SIX on it- 2 adults 1 kid in between and 3 kids on the gas tank. Under aged driving, tinted glasses, defective number plates( a new breed of glaring LED number plates combined with reflecting italics  small number plates makes identification impossible even from a 3 foot distance of an immobile 2 or 4 wheeler fitted with this kind of number plate.-video attached), kannada only number plates on autos and taxis, no side boards are all designed to evade identification and hence irresponsible behaviour.

Ban honking - proposal

mbnataraj - 16-MAY-2010

Dear Honorable Authorities in power who can do something, You all are also victims of all these problems facing us 24/7. and you have the powers to make a difference.

Please DO.

Enclosed a request to Ban honking in Bangalore, submitted to prior authorities 3 years ago. without any perceptible results so far.

1) Honking: The problem has become extremely  acute because between then and now almost EIGHT LAKHS (800 per day x 1000 days) have been added in to the unchanged 4,500 kms roads of Bengaluru. These have added almost 1.5 MILLION TONS of pollutants (1500 tons/day) into the air around Bangalore.

Every honk disturbs 8000 individuals at the present rate of population density in Bangalore. Honking has been known to encourage reckless driving rather than being an index of careful driving. No accident has so far occurred due to proven failure to honk. Infact all accidents honking does happen but accidents still occur probably due to recklessness arising out of overconfidence in honking.

Delhi Metro - Things to be learnt from it

Vasanth - 26-AUG-2007

After watching the program on Discovery on Delhi Metro, I was really amazed the way in which it has been done within India and an international channel like discovery has appreciated it. Vision of one man - Shreedharan is amazing. Following are the things I felt that should be incorporated in our Bangalore Metro.

Pedestrians Right of Way

nanhi - 11-MAY-2010

Bangalore is such a civilized city populated by the highly educated working class. But in most civilized cities around the world motorists, motorcyclists, scooterists ... give the right of way to pedestrians, but alas not in Bangalore. Why is this so?

To illustrate a point. I was recently in California, as an invitee to the Stanford University, Palo Alto. The morning walks required I cross the famous El Camino Real highway. Crossing an exit is a dangerous experience. But each time all manner of folks would stop their car and wave to me to cross over. What humility. And I am certain half these folks were not as educated as our gentile in Bangalore. Few  folks go to college in the US.

In Bangalore the abusive horns of our motorists seem to shout at high pitch, "move out, or be run over". What a shame.

I have aged and cannot move out fast. I am not angry, but I feel sad. My wife keeps reminding me to look out. And I even have to do so for cyclists.

Agara Flyover

tellvkb - 3-MAY-2010

Can someone tell when is the flyover construction at Agara junction to be completed ?

Vehicles must be allowed to take right from this junction at 27th Main. Also the one way implementation at 27th main HSR layout is not justified. AFter entering 27th main the road joining the agara village (1st cross) must be left open to public so that all vehicles need not go round about route. Few suggestions to improve traffic are -

  1. Allow right turn at 27th Main
  2. Allow LMV vehicles to go straight at agara/27main junction
  3. Extend 2 ways on 27th main till 1st cross
  4. Remove all the blockings made at 8/9/10/11 cross on 27th main and allow normal flow of traffic
  5. Re-route BMTC bus to paringipalya via Agara at earliest
