Stackable cars for central district? silkboard - 6-NOV-2007
How about something like this for congested central areas of cities like Bangalore? This kind of fits in with Vikash's idea, its just another EV in his last mile transportation solution. Imagine getting down at a Bus/Metro hub in or near CBD. And then renting a car like this to go around. You can get to any congested corner, no matter how narrow the roads are. And these wont require parking lots for storage, stacking lots would be more like it.

silkboard - 10-OCT-2007[flickr-photo:id=1256482394] Everybody going in every possible direction on Outer Ring Road between Intel office and Sarjapur Road. A very good representation of Bangalore Traffic as it is today - in absence of any enforcement, we form our own rules, and mind you we don’t do a bad job of it either. Don’t let the chaos visible in this picture distract you, we eventually manage to reach our destinations :) And yes, there is a cop in the picture as well, try find him. |
Rash driving in Mumbai - Person is behind the bar for a day - Shouldn't we also use this mantra? Vasanth - 25-SEP-2007In Mumbai, they recently introduced a law to put the person behind bars for rash driving. Shouldn't Bangalore be following the same thing. We have to followup with our commissioner and get it incorporated. Basically, Indians, to be general Asians are not good drivers compared to Americans and Europeans (Please don't take it negatively - This is a fact). We do not have discipline in driving. That's why most of Asian countries suffer a lot from traffic problems. Putting a good public transport system and enforcing people to use it is the only mantra to overcome this traffic problem. |
Don't just be the change, mass-produce it... cvikash - 20-SEP-2007What does it mean to : "Be the Change, we want to see." Many of us grapple with this advice, so did Pranav (Silkboard) and I, when we recently met. Alex Steffen at worldchanging.com goes a step further and applies it to our present context: "If our world is really looking down the barrel of environmental catastrophe, how do I live my life right now?” asked an email I got recently. |
