Investigate & publicize Mangalore air crash - petitions indian - 24-MAY-2010
Short, narrow and faulty table-top runway. No flat terrain. Pilot/Pilots' fatigue. Quick turn-around (QTA) flights at night raises pilots' stress and fatigue levels. Compromising safety vs commercial interests. No rest between outbound and inbound journeys for the pilots and the cabin crew. The Karnataka state government wants to establish an airport in every tier-II city across the state. Also a new concept called helitourism is also being introduced even in Madikeri, Kodagu (Western Ghats). The presence of the Chamundi Hills has rendered the present Mysore airport potentially unsafe especially under foggy / rainy conditions for the flights that are likely to go/depart and come/arrive from Bangalore, Chennai etc. There seems to be a veil / cloak of secrecy regarding/surrounding the exact cause of YSR's chopper / helicopter accident. The Airbus 320s or A-320s were grounded for 07 months immediately after the 1990 air crash at the HAL Airport Bangalore by blaming the aircraft and the fly-by-wire technology for the crash. We learnt only after the Mangalore Air crash that it was a pilot error in the case of A-320 crash. |
Naveen - 16-MAR-2010
The plan to build a large, formal bus stand for Mangalore had been conceived some years ago. Mangalore's original bus stand at Hampankatta had been too small with no scope for any expansion as it had been sandwiched right in the heart of town (CBD). Hence, KSRTC had shifted out to a newer facility of it's own long ago, however private buses continued to use the same bus-stand. With efflux of time, increased number of buses & severe congestion, the inter-city bus stand was moved to Statebank, close to the fishing harbour, which had long been the terminus for intra-city buses (The Hampankatta bus stand is now a convenient parking facility). Within a few years, due to increasing growth rate/s, much higher number of buses & space constraints, the need for a much larger facility was becoming more & more acute. |

Whereas the magistrate should have been pulling up the police for not charging the perpetrators of the violent incidents targeted at women under more stringent sections, it is totally shocking that he has instead chosen to direct the police to register an FIR against Ms Renuka Chowdhry, and all just for stating that "Mangalore has been Talibanised". |

Mangalore Real Estate - Looking Up Naveen - 15-OCT-2008Real Estate prices in Mangalore have been increasing by leaps & bounds. An article in TOI today (15th/Oct) states that several 1-crore-plus apartment blocks are being constructed with heavy demand. This is astonishing since all Metros are facing a slump & prices have in fact dropped in certain areas, such as Whitefield in Bangalore. |
