Its really a shocking news that the train from Bangalore to Mangalore will stand canceled from First of June 2008 as per the decision taken by the Railway board saying that it is non profitable.
Does anyone know that since the beginning of the said 6517 & 6518 trains, there is a minimum of 300 waiting lists of passengers. Then how can you say that it is not a profitable route. In order to make the people tired of the journey the trains reach the destination 2 to 3 hours after time. With this they want to make the people commuting on the trains be less and prove the fact that the route is non profitable. But please dont feel that the people of Karnatka are silent spectators. They will be aggressive once their morale is hurt. Dont try to put hand in lions mouth and try to count its teeth.

Mangalore Train - How the timings could be improved
Vasanth - 9 May, 2008 - 17:07
The timings are delayed a lot. For example, Bangalore-Mysore with Stop in Mandya and 2 crossings can be covered in 2hrs 15 minutes and Mysore-Hassan in 2 hrs. Engine direction change in Mysore and Hassan should take 15 minutes. I also have given an example via Arsikere Line. I think there are lot of trains running in that route during night times like Hampi Express, Shimoga Express, Rani Chennamma etc.. because of which SWR has taken the Mysore route.
If direct Hassan route is started, as said in the post, it is not possible to cover the distance of 190 kms in 2 hrs. It needs 3 hours atleast.
Current Timings is Like This: STATION CODE CAHNGED STATION NAME ARRIVAL DEPARTURE YPR YASVANTPUR JN Starting Station 20:35, 09 May 2008 SBC BANGALORE CY JN 20:50, 09 May 2008 20:55, 09 May 2008 MYA MANDYA 22:43, 09 May 2008 22:45, 09 May 2008 MYS MYSORE JN 23:55, 09 May 2008 00:10, 10 May 2008 KRNR KRISHANRAJANAGA 00:43, 10 May 2008 00:45, 10 May 2008 HLN HOLE NARSIPUR 01:33, 10 May 2008 01:35, 10 May 2008 HAS HASSAN 02:15, 10 May 2008 02:25, 10 May 2008 SKLR SAKLESHPUR 03:20, 10 May 2008 03:25, 10 May 2008 SBHR SUBRAHMANYA ROAD 05:30, 10 May 2008 05:35, 10 May 2008 KBPR KABAKA PUTTUR 06:23, 10 May 2008 06:25, 10 May 2008 BNTL BANTAWALA 06:48, 10 May 2008 06:50, 10 May 2008 KNKD KANKANADI 07:40, 10 May 2008 07:42, 10 May 2008 MAQ MANGALORE 08:05, 10 May 2008 Destination Station This can be improved like this: YPR YASVANTPUR JN Starting Station 20:35, 09 May 2008 SBC BANGALORE CY JN 20:50, 09 May 2008 20:55, 09 May 2008 MYA MANDYA 22:30, 09 May 2008 22:32 09 May 2008 MYS MYSORE JN 23:10, 09 May 2008 23:20, 10 May 2008 KRNR KRISHANRAJANAGA 00:05, 10 May 2008 00:07, 10 May 2008 HLN HOLE NARSIPUR 00:50, 10 May 2008 00:52, 10 May 2008 HAS HASSAN 01:30, 10 May 2008 01:40, 10 May 2008 SKLR SAKLESHPUR 02:30 10 May 2008 02:35, 10 May 2008 SBHR SUBRAHMANYA ROAD 04:40, 10 May 2008 04:45, 10 May 2008 KBPR KABAKA PUTTUR 05:35, 10 May 2008 05:37, 10 May 2008 BNTL BANTAWALA 05:50, 10 May 2008 05:52, 10 May 2008 KNKD KANKANADI 06:40, 10 May 2008 06:42, 10 May 2008 MAQ MANGALORE 07:05, 10 May 2008 Destination Station Via Arsikere It might look SBC BANGALORE CY JN Starting Station 22:30, 09 May 2008 YPR YASVANTPUR JN 22:35, 09 May 2008 22:37, 10 May 2008 TUM TUMKUR 23:35, 10 May 2008 23:37, 10 May 2008 ASK ARSIKERE 00:50, 10 May 2008 01:00, 10 May 2008 HAS HASSAN 01:40, 10 May 2008 01:42, 10 May 2008 SKLR SAKLESHPUR 02:30 10 May 2008 02:35, 10 May 2008 SBHR SUBRAHMANYA ROAD 04:40, 10 May 2008 04:45, 10 May 2008 KBPR KABAKA PUTTUR 05:35, 10 May 2008 05:37, 10 May 2008 BNTL BANTAWALA 05:50, 10 May 2008 05:52, 10 May 2008 KNKD KANKANADI 06:40, 10 May 2008 06:42, 10 May 2008 MAQ MANGALORE 07:05, 10 May 2008 Destination Station

WE need to raise our voice against the attrocities.
By the way, I want to know how many of the people have really travelled on this train and experienced the journey.

Shridhar,
I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but what is the source of this information? Is this news out there in some media? I'm interested in reading the reports.
