Am out of town till Oct 8

s_yajaman - 1 October, 2008 - 07:45

Srinath,

I am out of Bangalore from Oct 1 to Oct 8.  Can't make any meeting.  I have plenty of pictures of Singapore's MRT system.  If I am in Bangalore when the meeting is scheduled, I would like to join.

Questions from my side

a. Why only 3 coach rakes to start with?  The Metro should target much more ridership from Day 1.

b. Connectivity from stations to nearby areas.  What is the plan?

c. RV Road terminal - what is the traffic plan around 40th cross? A residential area and so much traffic will lead to conflict.

d. Repeat M Cadambi - why is visible progress so slow?  Delhi Metro is chugging along much faster.

Lakshman Rau Boulevard!!!

Arun - 1 October, 2008 - 10:17

I would like to attend this meeting. Observing the developments over the last 4+ years, I have seen lack of transparency in most decisions. Also being too rigid has caused delays to the project. I would like to understand BMRC’s commitment to – • Protect Lakshman Rau Boulevard – how are they going to handle issues of parking, commercialization, etc • Possibilities of going underground or a shift to avoid the Boulevard (not too late I believe) • How are they carrying out the extension from Jayanagar – will it be towards BSK or Silk Board? Terminating a MRTS in the middle of a residential locality means tons of trouble.

BMRC Meeting

I would certainly like to go for the meeting, but my availiability is after 15th/Oct. If the meeting is scheduled after the 15th, I request to be counted in.

I would also like to check with them about what provisions are being made for fast /efficient feeder buses. I fully agree with what Silkboard mentioned - that without a proper network of feeder services, the Metro may fail.

I also wish to check about the other feeder services planned - the monorail/s & also about inclusion of JC Rd /Corpn & Residency Rd /Richmond circle - these are vital points that seem to have been ignored in the proposed Metro /Mono alignments, so far.

Metro seems to connect Electronics City in Phase II but seems to ignore ITPL area and BIAL. Our Hon'ble CM proposed to connect Metro from Byappanahalli towards BIAL. These are the two questions that i'd like to ask BMRCL. I will not be in Bangalore around the time of the meeting. Second - why is the pace of work so slow? Third - why are heritage structures like the ancient home of master architect of yester years, Sri Komer Srinivasachar in VV puram being put under acquisition instead of other properties in that area? Soft targets I presume.

EC link in Phase II

I saw a slide in the BMLTA summit that Namma Metro intends to provide a stop at EC on Phase II of the project. This can be confirmed during the meeting.
