BIAL Airport connectivity - a new four-lane expressway? 09/15/07 10:38 - silkboard
Deccan Herald ran long writeups on Airport connectivity last week, and their reporters did some realistic time checks as well. We know most of those things: extending Metro from Byappanahalli, the now famous six-lane BIAL expressway, check-in counters at railway station itself. But there were some plans and ideas I had not heard in greater details earlier. person silkboard's post | forum 5 Comments | Read More

Hyderabad flyover collapse: engineering gone bad? 09/14/07 06:22 - shas3n
The recent collapse of a Flyover under construction at Hyderabad is indeed a wake-up call for all those who are involved in building and maintaining flyovers. It also underscores the need for active watchdog efforts from citizens that could have prevented this and other similar disasters. I received a PPT file with a few photos of the section that collapsed. (See attached file). person shas3n's post | Read More |

BMTC e-purse to be introduced next week 09/13/07 08:23 - shas3n
Yes, it is almost there. In about a week, BMTC will introduce e-purse which can be used to pay for your BMTC tickets instead of cash. The first phase of the roll out will be experimental and this scheme will soon be expanded after KEONICS finds BOOT partners to implement the system. Ella OK but I have some quirks about the way it is implemented. person shas3n's post | forum 14 Comments | Read More

Once every month this BWSSB truck comes in and cleans out the septic tanks in the area. All the dirt and the grime are cleaned out and put on the road in a heap. It is then the work of the BBMP cleaners to clear that mess. This has led to many showdowns between the two, the latest being this morning when the two almost came to blows. person Vijay's post | forum 4 Comments | Read More

You must have missed this ad BBMP put in newspapers 2 weeks ago. It is an aggressive sounding notice talking about unauthorized hoardings and signboards: "As per the rules ... exhibitors of illegal advertisements ... banners ... are punishable. Action will be taken against ... by lodging FIR at ... police stations" [flickr-photo:id=1310138753,size=m][flickr-photo:id=1348945920,size=m] person silkboard's post | forum 7 Comments | Read More

09/08/07 05:02 - tsubbaIts time to stop pussy footing about traffic and get really serious about it. There are going to be no more fundamental advances in traffic engineering. All that remains to be done is implement what has already been discovered. All this knowledge is not even patented or proprietary - any body serious about doing it and with access to a xerox machine should be well equipped to tackle these problems. person tsubba's post | forum 2 Comments | Read More
